What to take!?!

Boys and girls!

Here follows the all important list of what to take to the party that is only two small weeks away now:

A tent, a sleeping bag, a towel, a raincoat (for the famous English weather), some party music, English pounds (you will need 7,90 pound for the dinner and extra if you would like some drinks in the pub), a souvenir -typical from your own country- that doesn't cost more than 4 Euro's (IMPORTANT! It is needed for one of the activities!!) and obviously clothes for most types of weather (you can check the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/for weatherupdates of the closest town Chelmsford)

Thats about it, if you think of anything else I have forgotten please let me know and we can tell the whole group.

Sunday Roast

Boys and girls,

I have reserved tables in the traditional country pub 'The Spotted Dog' for sunday the 6th. No visit to England is complete without a visit to a real pub. Sunday is also the most traditional day to visit a pub and eat a 'Roast' (piece of meat roasted in the oven or Aga).

As we are with a large group I have to take orders before we arrive so that this small cosy establishment can have enough food for us. You have a choice between three pieces of meat: Beef, Lamb and Turkey.

For those of you who are vegetarian there is also a vegetarian option (by the way, if you are vegetarian please tell me soon for the other meals we will be preparing!). You can give your preference on this website or email me.

The cost of this meal will be 7 pounds 90, so you will have to bring some pounds with you! I will add this to the list of things you have to bring that I will give to you all as soon as possible.

Thank you

London by Night

First of all thanks a lot to Edu for doing so much research on the London nightlife. I am sure if you publish a travel guide concerning this topic you will make some good money! Well done!

There is however a small problem. It was proposed that we could take a nightbus home after a night in London on friday night. On the right of this website you will find a link saying 'High Easter', this is the name of our village. If you click on this you will discover the problem: never has there been a nightbus from in this sleepy little village and unless us mightly Erasmus crew can convince the local authorities to create one for us we have to think about our options :-(

High Easter, although a short drive from Stanstead is still an hours or more drive away from London and I am afraid that it will be just too difficult to go out in London and transport everybody back. Therefore I propose the following: for those of you who wish to have a night (or a day) in London should do so before or after they leave the party sight. London town is easiest to reach through the airport therefore it would be the most efficient if you combine this with your arrival or departure. As most of you arrive on thursday or friday then maybe it is better to visit London after the party from monday onwards.

If you really want a taste of British nightlife the nearest town is Chelmsford. I have been out there a couple of times and noticed some difficulties of getting into all the good places, so maybe we will have problems with such a big group. However, I have heard that the best place to be for a party that weekend will be in the small village of High Easter. Let me know what you all prefer to do (try posting a comment below!) and I'll find a solution that will fit to everybody's need.

Tents!

Amigos y amigas!

The weekend is coming closer and closer. This is a short message about one thing you will have to bring for certain: a tent! If you are coming with more than try to arrange to share one. The places inside are limited so if you want to remain dry and warm please bring a tent!

I will soon provide a list of things you have to take with you! Please remain visiting this site!

Activities

I will now explain a bit more about the plans for the weekend. The big night will be saterday the 5th of August. There will be a large dinner on an even larger table with an even larger party to follow. Sunday will be there, as always, for a bit of relaxation and some of you are already leaving that day so they'll have time to prepare for their travel back. Other options are a nice relaxing walk through the English country side or a trip to the local pub for a traditional sunday lunch. One excursion that I think will be very nice will be a bustrip to Cambridge. This old student town is only 30 minutes away from the cottage and has some great sights. I have informed at some local bus rentals and am waiting for a price indication. I was thinking of organising this on the friday (although not everybody will be present yet) or on saterday (which will give me time to prepare the big dinner and party!!) So, my question to you is: what are your ideas? you can post your comments below and please do so!
